About Tom Atkins
There are a lot of Tom Atkins' on the web. This particular Tom Atkins got his BA in English from Virginia Tech, with minors in communications, drama and history. He holds an MA in creative writing from the award winning Hollins writing program. In addition he has a D. Div. degree from Christian Bible College and Seminary.

Atkins is best known for his system integration work.  In 1991, Atkins was one of the "founding four" of The Whitlock Group, helping them rise from a start-up to a $30M/year company by the time he left in 1998. In 1998, he became a partner in another startup firm, TGS Inc.  While VP of marketing at TGS, the company grew over 200% a year for five years. TGS was eventually purchased by Ascent Media. Atkins continues to work in integration, as VP of Diversified Systems' Mid Atlantic operations. He is responsible for many ground breaking systems in digital and high definition television, working with broadcasters, corporations, ministries, universities and government agencies.

Much of Atkins' work has been in marketing. He oversaw much of the marketing for Whitlock, TGS and Diversified. For a time he was a partner in The Kingma Agency. And he has provided copywriting and other marketing services for many years on a freelance basis.

Atkins has applied his creativity to all sorts of endeavors, from poetry to photography, from corporate organizational issues to drama. He has written and acted in plays, sang in and directed musical groups (including Sing Out Roanoke Valley), designed interiors and much more.

He currently lives in Daleville, Virginia. He attends Welspring Presbytarian Church, and is the father of two children.
